If you were approved for a federal tax extension, then the State of Virginia will automatically grant you a six month tax extension. If you need to make a state tax payment, you'll need to submit Virginia Form 760IP

Filing for a Virginia tax extension does not grant you extra time to pay any tax balance due. Your balance must be paid by May 1 to avoid possible penalties.

If you already received an approval notification from ExpressExtension, and you don't need to make a tax payment, then you're all done.

For taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2005, an automatic six-month filing extension is allowed for businesses filing on Form 500 or Form 502. No paper application or online application for extension is required. The extension provisions do not apply to payment of any tax that may be due with Form 500. To avoid penalties, Form 500 filers must pay at least 90% of their final tax liability by the original due for filing the return. The payment must be submitted on Form 500CP (PDF) or Form 502W (PDF).

Filing for a Virginia tax extension will not provide you with additional time to pay any tax balance due, which must be paid by your original filing deadline or interest and other payment penalties may apply.
